TRANSITION INTELLIGENCE (TQ)

Newsletter June 2024

Welcome to the second newsletter about Transition Intelligence (TQ)! This month I wanted to explore the four key pillars of TQ.

When embarking on an international assignment, the journey can be filled with excitement and challenges. I understand the complexities involved, and that's why I’ve developed a the TQ framework built on four essential pillars:

Readiness

The first pillar, Readiness, is all about ensuring that individuals and their families are as prepared as possible for the changes ahead. Focusing on aligning expectations and goals, so everyone is on the same page about the transition. This includes understanding the cultural nuances, language barriers, and lifestyle adjustments that may arise.

Relationships

Moving to a new country can be an isolating experience, which is why the second pillar, Relationships, is so crucial. Emphasising the importance of building and maintaining strong support networks. This includes fostering new connections in the host country while maintaining ties with existing relationships back home. Having a solid support system can make all the difference in navigating the transition smoothly.

Resilience

No matter how well-prepared you are, challenges and setbacks are inevitable during a transition. The third pillar, Resilience, equips individuals with the tools and strategies to cope with stress, deal with overwhelm, and problem-solve effectively. By developing resilience, individuals can bounce back from adversity and maintain a positive mindset throughout the journey.

Realigning

The final pillar, Realigning, recognizes that change is an ongoing process. It involves regularly reassessing and realigning to meet shifting needs and challenges. Change is a catalyst for continuous assessment and adaptation, providing guidance and support to help individuals and families realign their goals and expectations as needed.

Each of these pillars – Readiness, Relationships, Resilience, and Realigning – provides a critical support structure for individuals undergoing a transition. By addressing these key areas you will help individuals and families navigate the complexities of their international journey with greater ease and confidence.

If you are wanting to explore how your organisation can support these 4 pillars for your globally mobile families, please don’t hesitate to reach out and book a complimentary call with me.

Take care
