The Invisible Chains

Chances are, you were battling against your own limiting beliefs, those deep-seated assumptions and negative self-talk that can sabotage our efforts and keep us trapped in a cycle of self-doubt.
Limiting beliefs come in many forms, but they all share a common thread: they convince us that we're not good enough, not capable enough, or simply undeserving. "I'll never be able to lose weight." "I'm not cut out for that kind of job." "I'm just not smart enough." “Now’s just not the right time.” Sound familiar?
These beliefs can be so ingrained in us that we don't even realise they're there, quietly undermining our confidence and holding us back from reaching our true potential. And the more we repeat them to ourselves, the more they become self-fulfilling prophecies, trapping us in a never-ending loop of self-doubt, stagnating us.
There was a day early this year, Madam S came home from school in tears. Another girl had carelessly told her she wasn’t good enough to be in the athletic program, that she didn’t deserve to take a spot from someone who was better than her. That careless (and frankly selfish) comment continues to plague her. The number of conversations we’ve had about being our own best; reassuring her that she was selected on her own merits; about showing up and putting in the effort because that’s what matters most.
The power of a suggestion, the power of the words that are spoken over us, it is truly amazing. These few words shaped so much of the past 6 months for Madam S. But we have worked together to identify and challenge those limiting beliefs. She's moving into a space now where she values herself, where she can see her own potential and she’s really starting to thrive as a result of the conversations we’ve had.
